Chennai: The Madras High Court has ordered the hearing of the AIADMK General Committee case to be postponed to August 10.

AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam and general committee member Vairamuthu have separately filed a case in the Madras High Court seeking a ban on the AIADMK general committee convened on July 11 and declaring the appointment of Tamil son Usen as its president invalid. The single judge Krishnan Ramasamy, who inquired into this, ruled that the general assembly can be held as planned.

Against this, OPS filed an appeal in the Supreme Court. The Chief Justice of the Supreme Court heard the case and ordered the Madras High Court to investigate and resolve the case again within 2 weeks.

In this case, these cases were listed before Justice Krishnan Ramasamy. Objecting to this, a letter was sent to the High Court Registry Department on behalf of OPS and Vairamuthu requesting to transfer the trial to another judge. An appeal was also made to the Chief Justice.

Following this, Chief Justice Krishnan Ramasamy had recommended that the case be transferred to another judge. Subsequently, the Chief Justice had issued an order that High Court Judge G. Jayachandran would investigate the case.

The case came up for hearing today before Judge G. Jayachandran. At that time, the lawyer appearing for O. Panneerselvam requested that “as a senior lawyer from Delhi is present in this case, the hearing should be postponed to the next day.” Accepting this request, the judge adjourned the hearing to August 10 at 2.15 pm.
