The Frenchman finished second in the final and won silver.
The vice-world champion in the 100m butterfly also took silver in this 50m butterfly of the European Championships. Very fit, Maxime Grousset fails by nothing behind the Italian Thomas Ceccon who caused a sensation at home. Ceccon therefore won the title in 22’89 ahead of Grousset in 22’97. Portugal’s Diogo Matos Ribeiro completes the podium with a time of 23’07.
