Customs officials seized snakes, monkeys and turtles illegally smuggled from Bangkok to Chennai airport.
Customs officials received a tip-off that a passenger traveling in a private flight from Bangkok to Chennai airport was illegally smuggling animals. Following this, the officers who searched the passengers identified the suspect and conducted an investigation.
Investigation revealed that one monkey, 15 rare species of snakes, 5 pythons and 2 tortoises were smuggled. The authorities immediately seized them and sent them back to Bangkok. Officials are also investigating the matter.
