The Israeli house continues to get into trouble: after the team’s loss to Poland, the host, the Czech Republic, achieved a victory that brings them closer to the players in blue and white. Nano Ginzburg’s team won 80:88 over Holland, who lost a chance to qualify for the round of 16 of the European Championship following the loss. Later, the Serbian team, Israel’s next opponent, ran over Finland 70:100.

Right from the start, the identity of the winner was clear, and after taking a double-digit advantage already in the first quarter, Serbia just kept increasing the difference. Holland came to the match after two losses, one of them after a close match against the national team, knowing that another loss would spell its fate. But already at the start, she fell into a double-digit deficit that only kept growing and reached up to 23 points at the break.
Holland did make a comeback in the third quarter and managed to offset the gap to only 3 in the decisive quarter, but points by Jan Wesley and Martin Petraka closed the deal and gave the Czech Republic its first victory in the tournament. Wesley led the Czechs with 24 points, Petraka added 20. On the other hand, 22 points from Yannick Franka were not enough for the Netherlands.
