The latest Russian S-500 anti-aircraft missile systems can be delivered to China and India, Dmitry Shugaev, director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) of Russia, told RBC in an interview with RBC. Yesterday, November 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the first production model of the S-500 is soon planned to be delivered to the army.

“When this system is delivered to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in the required volume, it will become possible, among other things, to supply it for export. We consider India, as well as China, and all those states with whom we have long-standing, partner and predictable relationships, as future owners of this newest system, ”said Mr. Shugaev.

Russia tested the S-500 Prometheus anti-aircraft missile system in 2019. The Ministry of Defense said that the S-500 air defense would be able to destroy hypersonic weapons in near space. It was planned that the missile systems would be ready for delivery to the troops in 2020, later their transfer was postponed until 2021. Serial delivery should begin in 2025. The general director of Rostec, Sergei Chemezov, said that there would be no export of the S-500 for several years, since “first of all, we need to provide our army.”
