Chennai: “In Tamil Nadu, the electricity tariff has been increased without respecting the sentiments of the people. This is unfair and it should be withdrawn immediately,” said BAMA president Anbumani Ramadoss.
In this regard, he said on his Twitter page, “The Electricity Regulatory Commission has announced that the electricity tariff hike has come into effect in Tamil Nadu from today. The fact that the electricity tariff has been increased beyond the reach of the people has shocked all parties.
Consultation meetings were held only in 3 places in Tamil Nadu regarding electricity tariff hike. Majority of the participants were of the opinion that the electricity tariff should not be increased. It is not fair to increase the electricity bill after that.
As people are facing severe economic crisis, this tariff hike is unnecessary. Realizing this sentiment of the people, I urge the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to withdraw the electricity tariff hike immediately.”
