Dubai: An expatriate who cheated by offering a fake visa through social media in the UAE has been sentenced to two months in prison. A 43-year-old expatriate was sentenced for defrauding people by paying for visas.

He advertised through social media and others pointing out that his company provides visas to various countries and has a special offer for those who are interested in immigrating. Rented the company’s building, interviewed several people and extorted money. Instead, he gave a receipt with the company’s logo to the victims. He pleaded not guilty during the trial and said he was only an employee of the company. But the court found that the accused was deliberately deceiving people and extorting money. The court ordered him to return the money bought as a fee for the visa transaction and to deport him after serving his sentence.
