3 deaths in different accidents yesterday in Thrissur district. Two scooter passengers died when a heavy aluminum plate being carried in a trailer lorry broke and fell on the national highway near Punnayur Akalad School. Mohammadali Haji (70) and Shaji (40) of Kishkeke Thalakkal were killed while waiting for their vehicle to go to their relative’s home after morning prayers.
Shaji had stopped the scooter to pick up Haji. There were more than 100 plates in the trailer which was going from Kozhikode to Ernakulam. All but three of these fell. Locals rushed and pulled both of them out but they were dead. As there was no traffic on the road, further emergency was avoided. Bapu’s son Nizam (28) died when his car hit a tree in Kaypamangalam at Mananthavadi Tettan house in Wayanad. A father and daughter who were traveling on a scooter were injured when they were hit by a bus and a lorry in Ollur. 3 people were injured in a bike collision in Mazhuvancheri. No one was injured in the lorry overturn accident in Kecheri.
