The Senegalese artist will perform 2 titles from his 1st album Bumayé. Album produced by Raphaël D’Hervez (Pongo, Minitel Rose), Bumayé being a leitmotif recalling all the ordeals crossed to get there, and it is also a reference to the mythical fight of Mohamed Ali against George Foreman in 74 in Kinshasa. Lass will then share his musical tastes with listeners: Orchestra Baobab, Daara J, Garnett Silk and Voilaaa.

Who is Las ?

First, the voice.

A voice that clashes and shines like fireworks when he sings on 2lectro, house, ragga, afropop productions. A voice that also heals, gently intoning celestial melodies. A voice of rare elegance, which we inevitably remember. Lass reconciles the secular heritage of great African singers with the modern style of new Afropop singers.

Then the artist.

Senegalese by birth, he learned music at a very young age, watching Omar Pene or Ismaël Lo put on a show in the Dakar club of Youssou Ndour.

After his first singles recorded in Daara J’s studios, he was truly “saved” by music. The story is as incredible as it is true: in the 1990s, some young people from his village suddenly decided to board canoes to reach Europe. But Lass refuses to go with them because one of his songs starts playing on the radio, and it would be such a shame to leave Dakar just when his music is gaining notoriety. In the end, his single did not become a hit in Senegal… A few years later, it was by chance that he landed in Europe. When he arrived in Lyon, he was on the verge of giving up music, he had to find a “serious job”, and start all over again… Lass becomes one of the pillars of Bruno Patchwork’s famous Voilaaa project. He also quickly finds himself on stage in front of tens of thousands of people with Synapson, this electro duo for which he signed two notorious singles: Souba (more than 4 million plays on the platforms), and the recent Still with Tim Dup.

Finally, the future.

In the spring of 2021, will finally be released in its own name – LASS – his first track (and the EP in the fall). First steps towards the album planned for spring 2022, with always this natural desire to reconcile acoustic tradition and digital era, instruments played and digital programming. As soon as concerts are possible again, he will hit the road. In reduced formation (machines and acoustic instruments), because it is his magnificent voice, and his voice above all, which touches our souls and jostles our bodies.
