Referendum

A referendum on annexation of Russian-controlled territories to Russia has begun in Ukraine.

While Ukraine and its allies have announced that they will not recognize the election, it has been reported that these regions may be annexed by Russia through this referendum.

Referendums are being held in Ukraine’s Donetsk and Luhansk People’s Republics, as well as in the Kherson and Zaporizhzhya regions, recognized as autonomous by Russia.

While Russia has not yet recognized the Kherson and Shapirotsia regions as autonomous regions, it is reported that positive results for the annexation of these regions to Russia will be obtained through a referendum.

Putin’s invasion

Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said that his country is ready to use nuclear weapons to protect the regions.

Meanwhile, former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi has justified Russian President Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin was forced to invade Ukraine, he said.
