Visitors to the Grévin Museum can discover the wax statue of the double French Olympic judo champion Clarisse Agbegnenou from this Tuesday, October 4. A ceremony took place the day before in the presence of the 29-year-old French athlete, born to Togolese parents.
She proudly poses next to her wax statue. Clarisse Agbegnenou, double Olympic judo champion, makes her debut at the Grevin Museum where she rubs shoulders with other big sports stars like Teddy Riner, Cristiano Ronaldo or ex-biathlete Martin Fourcade.
« It’s something that I don’t think is even descriptive on an emotional level, it’s amazing. And to see me in double so well done… There, I take my hat off “says the champion at the microphone of Edmond Sadaka from RFI’s Culture Departmentduring the presentation ceremony of the statue on October 3, 2022.
The public can contemplate the statue the next day, October 4, in the museum created in 1882 by journalist Arthur Meyer and sculptor Alfred Grévin, which welcomes 700,000 visitors each year. ” I think people can maybe even say to themselves when they’re going to pass here, “wow, but it’s really Clarisse”, try to touch me… Everything is successful, there is nothing to say “, adds Clarisse Agbegnenou.
