The bodies of five students and a teacher who died in an accident in Palakkad Vadakancheri were taken to their homes after being placed for public viewing at Mulanthurutthi Baselius Vidyaniketan School. It was brought to the school for public viewing at three o’clock in the evening. The college shed tears because of the loss of dear students and teachers.

Jacob, VP Sajeendran, DCC President Mohammad Shias, CPM State Committee Member S. Satish and others came to the school and paid their respects.

Mulanthuruthi and Thiruvaniyur are observing hartal in the wake of the passing away of the children and their beloved teacher. Markets here are closed after noon. All the dead are from these two areas.

The bodies of the 9 deceased were taken to their native places after the post-mortem was completed. The bodies of 4 people were postmortemed at Palakkad District Hospital and the bodies of 5 people at Alathur Taluk Hospital. There were 42 students and five teachers in the excursion group’s bus and 40 passengers in the KSRTC bus. Currently, two people are undergoing treatment at Thrissur Medical College Hospital and one at Nenmara Avitis Hospital, according to the hospital authorities. No one is being treated for serious injuries.

Yesterday evening around 6:30 pm, the students, who left for Ooty on an excursion to say goodbye to their loved ones, were met by tragedy before reaching half way. The sports teacher of the school, three students of class 10 and two students of plus two died in the accident.
