The government can be relieved. Tuesday afternoon, unless the situation turns around, the National Assembly should approve – at first reading – the bill “on emergency measures relating to the functioning of the labor market with a view to full employment”. Much decried by the left but supported by part of the right, the text defended by the majority aims to renew the current parameters of the unemployment insurance scheme, while paving the way for their modulation according to the economic situation. The idea is to better protect job seekers by showing themselves more “generous” when unemployment is high and, conversely, tighten the conditions for returning to work when too many vacancies are unfilled.
