Expansion under UDAN scheme…

According to the information provided by the Ministry of Aviation, the Central Government has given permission to the Himachal Pradesh government to develop a new greenfield airport in Naxala, Mandi in the financial year 2022-23. Besides, a target of upgradation of 35 airports, helipads and water aerodromes has been set under RCS-UDAN during the financial year 2022-23.

Criteria for aerodromes…

Aerodromes have to fulfill certain requirements to operate flights, the ministry said. According to the DGCA’s terms, an airport must meet its management systems, operational procedures, physical characteristics, visual aids, rescue and fire-fighting services, etc. for security purposes.

Although the above guidelines are for airport licensing from a technical point of view, the license to operate airports is issued by the Central Government as per the Civil Aviation Policy.

As per the new guidelines, the in-principle approval granted by the DGCA indicates that the proposed airport is intended for non-commercial operations by the licensee and individuals specifically authorized by the licensee.
