NIA interrogator dies in car blast – Coimbatore Blast

Coimbatore: The incident in which a young man died in a car explosion in front of Kotamedu Sangameshwar temple near the town hall is suspected to be an assassination attempt. Explosives were found in the house of the deceased. Nails and marble parts were recovered from the exploded car. The car was completely burnt. The deceased is Jamesha Mubin (25) of Ukkadam GM Nagar. NIA has questioned Jamesh in 2019. Although questioned, the case was not taken that day. Police also found LPG cylinders from the car.

The police say that the explosion happened when the young man was trying to get out after seeing the police at the check post. The incident took place at 4 am yesterday. The police informed that the car driver who was in the car died and he was the only person in the vehicle. The car belongs to Prabhakaran of Kanchampetti near Pollachi. The police said that they will check whether the accident occurred while he was trying to escape. The body was completely burnt.

A temporary shelter at the entrance of the temple was partially destroyed by the blast. Police have stepped up security in Coimbatore. Coimbatore City Police Commissioner V. Balakrishnan informed.
