Chavakkad – Thiruvatra Puthankadpuram along with the waves, a herring flock washed ashore. Around 12.30 pm on Sunday, the sardines washed ashore along with the waves about 200 meters along the Puthankadappuram Fish Landing Centre. This phenomenon lasted for more than half an hour.
Local people including women and children also came to the shore to collect the sardines that were being caught. Locals harvested sardines as much as they could in small bags and so on. The small boatmen also came here after hearing about the herring flocks landing on the shore and caught fish by spreading their nets. A month ago, a group of sardines washed ashore in a similar manner at Azhimukha and Vatanapally in Kadapuram panchayat.
