New Delhi: CPM General Secretary Sitaram Yachuri said that he will not accept the conditions imposed on economic reservation. The minimum wage for ordinary people is Rs 3.5 lakh. If Rs 8 lakh is accepted as the limit then the ineligible will get reservation. The same applies to land. Yachuri responded that it is natural to raise objections against the ratio of reservation and now the demand for a caste census will rise.

The important judgment of the Constitution Bench of the Supreme Court was on the petitions against the 103rd Amendment of the Constitution brought to provide reservation to the economically backward classes. The Supreme Court upheld the 103rd Constitutional Amendment. The bench considered whether the amendment regarding prior reservation changes the basic structure of the Constitution.
