Muscat (Dallas): A 15-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with the shooting death of a Malayalee in the United States. The deceased has been identified as Sajan Mathew, 56, of Kozhencherry, Pathanamthitta. The murder was committed during an attempted robbery.
Sajan Mathew runs a beauty supply store in Muscat City, Dallas County. The assailant broke into the store around 1pm on Wednesday and opened fire on Saji, who was at the counter during the robbery attempt. Police rushed Saji to a nearby hospital but could not save him.
Sajan, a member of the Kozhencherry Cherukole Charuvel family, came to the United States in 2005 from Kuwait. Dallas Zion is a member of Marthoma Church. His wife is Mini Saji, a nurse at the Dallas Presbyterian Hospital. She has two children.
Sajan recently opened a beauty supply store in Muscat with friends. Zion was also an active member of the youth community at Marthoma Church.
