Kochi ∙ Court orders transfer of Periya case accused to Viyur Jail. The Kochi CBI Court accepted the application of Kannur Jail Superintendent. The court also directed that a medical board should be constituted for the examination of the first accused A. Peethambaran. The Superintendent of Kannur Jail had written an apology on the report that he had given palliative care in the jail without permission. After this, the court ordered to transfer the jail.

It is alleged that Peethambaran was given Ayurvedic treatment for 40 days in jail. Peethambaran was the first accused in the case of killing of Youth Congress workers Sarath Lal and Kripesh in Periya on February 17, 2019. 14 people including him are on the charge sheet.

In the case investigated by the Kerala Police, the CBI took over the investigation of the case following the order of the High Court following the legal battles waged by the parents of the murdered Kripesh and Sharatlal.
