In 2002, the attackers were taught a lesson; BJP has established peace in Gujarat: Amit Shah – Amit Shah | Gujarat Election 2022

Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that anti-social elements were involved in violence with the support of Congress in Gujarat. But he said that in 2002, the aggressors were taught a lesson and the BJP established peace in the state. He was addressing a rally in Mahudha town of Kheda district ahead of the assembly elections to be held in December.

The Union Minister’s remarks are referring to the riots that broke out in Gujarat following the burning of a train at the Godhra railway station in February 2002. “Communal riots were widespread in Gujarat during the Congress rule (before 1995). Congress had incited people of different communities and castes to fight against each other. “Through such riots, Congress has strengthened its vote bank and done injustice to a large section of the society,” said Amit Shah.

He also claimed that Gujarat witnessed riots in 2002 because of the support it received from the Congress, assailants resorted to violence. “But after they were taught a lesson in 2002, they left the path of violence. From 2002 to 2022 they refrained from engaging in violence. “BJP has established peace in Gujarat by taking strict action against those indulging in communal riots,” he added. Thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi for abrogating Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir, Amit Shah accused the Congress of opposing it because of vote bank.
