The Iranian national team ended its journey in the 2022 World Cup this evening (Tuesday). Carlos Queiroz’s team surrendered 1:0 to the United States in the spicy game, and thus will return to Tehran after a rather stormy week and a half.
“This national team has become the most shameful football team in the history of Iran,” the Persian journalist harshly criticized Dariush Maamar“The players of this team, especially Alireza Beyranband and Madi Tarami, were disappointing. The latter led the team to a loss both on the field and against the Iranian people.”
The journalist too Hassan Ronagi attacked and said: “Not only did this team lose its honor when it surrendered to England and the USA, it also lost to the entire Iranian nation.”
At the same time, the national team coach, Carlos Kiroshconcluded and said: “The dream is over, in the first half the United States dominated, and in the second half it was us. The only difference is that we did not score in the second half as we were supposed to. Now is the time for Iran to think about the next step.”
