Mumbai: In the second T20 match against the Australian women, the Indian women won a thrilling victory. India won the super over battle in a match that was full of excitement till the last ball. Both the teams reached the same score in the stipulated over and the match continued into the super over. While India scored 20 runs in the Super Over, the Kangaroos’ struggle was limited to 16 runs. Finally, Team India won the series by four runs. Smriti Manthana’s brilliant performance against Australia, who were confident of their victory in the first match, upset India. Manthana, who scored 13 runs in 3 balls in the Super Over, had earlier scored 79 runs in 49 balls.

Earlier, when Australia scored 187 runs, along with Manthana’s breakthrough, Shefali Verma and Richa Ghosh also brought India together. Shefali scored 34 runs off 23 balls while Richa scored 26 runs off 13 balls to take the win from Australia in the last overs. Richa brought India level with a four with 5 runs to win off the last ball. Harmanpreet Kaur’s 21 runs off 22 balls and Devika’s 11 runs off 5 balls helped India to match Australia in the allotted overs.

Beth Mooney (82) and Tahlia McGrath (70) helped the Aussies, who lost the toss and came into bat earlier at Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium. Both remained unbeaten. The Aussies only lost the wicket of opener Alicia Healy (25). Deepti Sharma took the wicket.
