Football fans and players have been shocked by the announcement of death penalty for Iranian football player Amir Naseer (26), who participated in the anti-hijab protest.
Iran’s action has been strongly condemned by various human rights organizations around the world.

“We are shocked by reports that footballer Amir Naseer, who campaigned for women’s rights and basic freedoms in his country, is facing the death penalty in Iran.
We stand by Amir. We are requesting that his sentence be revoked immediately.
Amir Nasir, who is part of the Iran national football team, is also playing in the country’s premier league. She was arrested for participating in the anti-hijab protest in Iran.
In this situation, the Iranian government has sentenced Amir to death, accusing him of waging a ‘war against God’ and citing the casualties of security forces.
Anti-hijab protest
The anti-hijab protests in Iran intensified following the death of a young woman named Masha Amini.
More than 300 people have died and up to 15,000 people have been arrested in this protest that lasted for more than two months.
Meanwhile, 20 of those arrested in the anti-hijab protests have been sentenced to death and two of them were hanged in public last week.
It is also noted that 400 people have been sentenced up to 10 years in prison so far in this incident.
