During the past period, the recorded above-normal values of average day-night temperatures in North-West Bulgaria and the extreme southern regions created conditions for delayed vegetation processes during autumn crops.
Agrometeorological conditions in the next seven-day period will be determined by temperatures below the biological minimum necessary for the vegetation of winter cereals and winter rape.
During the period, snowfall and the formation of a snow cover are expected in most of the agricultural area of the country. It will provide protection for unestablished and early-stage crops from the predicted negative minimum temperatures.
At the end of the second ten-day period of December, the germination phases, the beginning of leaf formation (1-2 leaves) and the third leaf phase are observed in wheat. In separate places in the Danube Plain – Novachene agrostation and Southern Bulgaria – Plovdiv agrostation, the barley crops are in the braning phase – a phase providing a higher level of cold resistance in winter.
During the period, the conditions will limit the possibilities for performing tillage and phytosanitary activities in the permanent plantations.
