A British Conservative MP has resigned his seat after a court in United Kingdom the hallara guilty of a crime of “aggrieved public order raciallyand fined him 600 pounds (692 euros) for yelling at an activist to “go back to Bahrain”“.

According to an official government source, Bob StewartMP for the Beckenham constituency, in southeast London, informed Parliament that he is resigning from his seat while he considers appealing the ruling announced this Friday by the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, in the British capital.

On December 14 of last year, Stewart got into an argument with activist Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei outside the Lancaster House palace of the British Foreign Office, in London.

In the framework of an event organized by the Embassy of Bahrain, Alwadaei, director of the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy, asked the deputy: “Bob Stewart, how much money did you sell out to the Bahrain regime for?“, repeatedly questioning whether he had accepted money from the Government of Bahrain, where the politician served as an officer in the British Army in the 1960s.

Stewart’s response was: “Go away, I hate you. You create a lot of problems. Go back to Bahrain“.

The MP’s behavior was branded by both Labor and Liberal Democrats as “totally unacceptable”.
