Zonta Club – Veliko Tarnovo awarded senior cadet Hristiana Toneva with a scholarship for young women in science.

The award was presented at a special ceremony in the “Boris Denev” art gallery in the old capital, which the Zonta Club traditionally holds on the eve of March 8. On this date, the holiday of the international organization Zonta International and the day of the yellow rose are celebrated, the National University of Ukraine announced.

Cadet Sergeant Hristiyana Toneva is a fifth-year student at Vasil Levski National Military University, military specialization “Materials, movement and transport”. She has participated in a number of scientific conferences, Erasmus+ mobility in Lithuania and an international gender equality project in Portugal. She received her award from the president of the Zonta Club – V. Tarnovo, Maria Ignatova, along with wishes that in the future she would be equally motivated and succeed in every endeavor.

The “Knight of the Yellow Rose” award was also presented at the ceremony. One of the most pleasant surprises at this year’s celebration was related to the news that the representative of Zonta – Veliko Tarnovo for the nomination “Women in STEM” (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) received the first prize at the Area level / among the countries Bulgaria, Romania and Macedonia/.This award is given to women of any age and nationality pursuing a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) program at an accredited university/college/institute who demonstrate outstanding potential in the relevant field.
