A concert of the Turkish group “Duo Allaturca İmpro Piano” entitled “Makam Müziğinde Çeşitlemeler” took place on the stage of the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev, Day.Az reports.

The concert program was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.

At the evening, Turkish maqams and Azerbaijani compositions were performed by pianists Jamile Jabbar and Nikhat Demirkol.

The concert program aroused great interest among Azerbaijani listeners, who greeted each musical number with applause.

After the concert, the soloists shared their impressions of the musical evening.

Jamile Jabbar said that she was born in Baku, graduated from the Bulbul Secondary Special Music School here, and later continued her education at the Baku Music Academy named after Uzeyir Hajibeyli.

“I was lucky enough to take lessons from such professional teachers as Dilyara Mirzaguliyeva, Ogtay Abbasguliyev, from brilliant pianists – People’s Artist of the USSR Farhad Badalbeyli, People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Murad Adigezalzade. In Baku, I defended my doctoral dissertation. I worked as an accompanist in the class of People’s Artist of Azerbaijan Khuraman Gasimova and in the Azerbaijan State Choir Chapel under the direction of People’s Artist Gulbaji Imanova. Therefore, the Philharmonic stage is native to me. At one of the competitions held at the Philharmonic, I even took first place. At the invitation of the Izmir Opera and Ballet Theater, I continued my performing activities in Turkey, six months ago I was invited to the Ankara State Opera and Ballet Theater. Of course, the concert in Baku is significant for me, after 20 years I am performing on the stage of the Philharmonic again, this is very exciting. I express my deep gratitude to the organizers of the program, the director of the Azerbaijan State Academic Philharmonic named after Muslim Magomayev , People’s Artist, Professor Murad Adygezalzadeh,” she said.

As Nikhat Demirkol noted, he, together with Jamile Jabbar, created the group “Duo allaturca Impro Piano” two years ago.

“When we perform maqam music, seventy percent of our performance is improvisation, despite the fact that we have notes in front of us. This is my fourth visit to Baku, the second time I perform at a concert. Performing on the stage of the Philharmonic, one of the symbols of Baku, with a pianist Azerbaijani origin is a special joy. Our project consists of two parts. Previously, we performed at the final concert of the 36th Izmir Festival, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. The second part of the concert, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, took place in Baku. We We are very happy to be in Azerbaijan and meet music lovers,” emphasized Nikhat Demirkol.
