This mission, which takes place as part of the commemoration of the International Day Against the Use of Children in Armed Conflict (February 12), also aims to raise awareness about the prevention of the recruitment of children in combat. armed, indicates a press release from the center.

It also intends to consolidate collaboration with researchers and academics as part of the activities of the International Research Center on the Prevention of Child Soldiers.

As part of this mission, the president of the Center, Abdelkader Filali, and the director of its Africa office, Willy Didié Foga Konefon, took part in a conference under the theme “Africa without child soldiers on the horizon 2030”, with the participation of actors from Chadian civil society, researchers, professors and master’s students.

The delegation also plans to visit places of demobilization, disarmament and reintegration of child soldiers, set up thanks to the commitment of the Chadian authorities who facilitated this work mission and their determination to stem the phenomenon of child recruitment. soldiers by opening up in particular to researchers and NGOs.

The N’Djamena Declaration adopted in 2010 states that the government is committed, alongside other parties and UN organizations, to putting an end to the recruitment of children into the ranks of the armies.

Created in 2022 in Dakhla, the International Research Center on the Prevention of Child Soldiers aims to contribute to the fight against the recruitment of child soldiers, in particular through raising awareness of their fate, the processes of their recruitment, as well as on the underlying causes that fuel this scourge.
