A rally took place in the Cantal prefecture on Saturday August 26 to defend Marina, the target of a criminal order for sexual exhibition on Wednesday. She had defended herself to the police by saying she was “super hot” in the middle of a heat wave.

A thousand people, including many topless women, marched Saturday afternoon August 26 in Aurillac (Cantal), on the sidelines of the city’s street theater festival, to support a woman prosecuted after having walked topless in the town.

In a good-natured atmosphere, the procession set off shortly after noon in the streets of the city center behind a head banner indicating “Aurillac topless, the police in PLS”, as shown in particular by photo and videos on Twitter (renamed X ).

The slogan was repeated aloud by many demonstrators during the march, while other participants shouted others defending feminism and criticizing the police. Arrived in front of the courthouse, the crowd then lent itself to a “clapping”, a collective applause.

The purpose of the rally was to support Marina, targeted by a penal order for sexual exhibition after walking around town topless on Wednesday. Thursday, she had explained her gesture to the local press, saying that she had been “super hot” and wanted to do “like half the men” that day, “who didn’t[avaient] no T-shirts”. She was then checked by police officers after refusing to cover her top at their request.

In front of the court on Saturday, demonstrators, most often masked, also took down French flags in front of the court before setting it on fire for some. Others also took advantage of the happening to enter the building and degrade the waiting room. This group, made up of “a dozen individuals”, also “triggered the start of a quickly contained fire”, according to a press release from the prefecture, which condemned “firmly the damage”.

Calm then returned after, in particular, the speech of Frédéric Remy, artistic director of Éclat, the association organizing the street theater festival, and that of the mayor of the city, Pierre Mathonier. Aurillac hosts from August 23 to 26 the 36th edition of the International Street Theater Festival, a major street arts event. Hundreds of artistic performances are offered in the streets of the city or in a marquee.

In 2016, a violent demonstration against the excavations of festival-goers aroused great emotion in the city.
