After a particularly dry start to the year, the threat of a water shortage hangs over certain departments for the months to come. Without waiting for the possible rains of the next few days, a dozen of them are already on alert, in particular in the center-west and south-east of the country. In several municipalities in Drôme, Alpes-Maritimes, but also Vienne or Charente, for example, agricultural land is subject to irrigation restrictions, while in private homes the filling of swimming pools is prohibited, as well such as washing cars or watering gardens during the day. Even more severe restrictions are in place in part of Ain and Charente-Maritime, placed on heightened alert. Finally, in the north-west of Bouches-du-Rhône, the Réal de Jouques sector even reached the maximum level of“crisis”requiring the cessation of non-priority water withdrawals, including for agricultural purposes, according to the official Propluvia website
