Videos of a ship that sank in the Caspian Sea are being actively published on the Internet. Users nicknamed it “Ghost Ship” because of its appearance. As Day.Az reports, journalists from the Lada.kz editorial office tried to establish the ownership of the ship by veteran sailors.

Videos are being published on social networks showing an old abandoned ship at sea. The footage clearly shows how badly the ship has rusted. The author of the video says that this is a famous ship from the Second World War, which is now rotting and falling apart.

– Now who’s the boss, the cormorants. The staircase has rotted even here. The ship does not have a number. Engine spare parts remain. The ship is all riveted, it is not made like modern ships, it does not have a single welded seam,” the man says off-screen.

Journalists were unable to talk to the author of the video. But veteran sailors confirmed the fact that there are old sunken ships in the Caspian Sea. And they assumed that this was one of them.

– They are located in the northern part of the Caspian Sea. They have been there since the times of the Soviet Union. The Navy practiced ship firing. These ships were used as naval targets. These ships are from the 70s and 80s, the veterans said.

The words of the veteran sailors were confirmed by the director of the diving center “SSI Aktau” Oleg Morozov. He also said that there is a ship cemetery in the Caspian Sea.

– There used to be a training ground there under the USSR. Missiles were fired at decommissioned ships. Then the poachers hid there from the border guards. We even have a sunken steamship, dating back to the Nobel brothers, built in 1881,” said Oleg Morozov.’
