A giant laser that diverted lightning.. Scientists’ achievement..!

Scientists have deflected lightning in Switzerland using a giant laser.

Scientists have used a giant laser to deflect lightning to reduce lightning strikes in Switzerland. They say the technology could prevent damage to power stations, airports, launch pads and other structures, as well as prevent people from being harmed by lightning.

The five-ton device was installed near a 400-foot telecommunications tower in Switzerland’s Montserrat. Lightning is a high-voltage discharge that occurs between clouds. This trillion watt laser produces a thin laser beam. The laser beam heats air molecules and emits electricity.

This laser deflects four bolts of lightning up to 150 feet each time. By firing thousands of laser pulses a second into clouds, they could safely deflect lightning and slightly improve the world’s safety, scientists say.
