Sri Lanka is in the throes of an economic crisis and is facing severe fuel shortages. This has led to day-to-day waiting and refueling at petrol and diesel outlets. Motorists waiting for this often fall unconscious and die.

At this point a 63-year-old lorry driver had been waiting in line for diesel for the past 5 days at a gas station in Anguardota, Western Province. He was found dead in his vehicle yesterday.

It looks like he may have had a heart attack after standing in line for a long time. The death toll from waiting in line for fuel, including him, has risen to 10. Thus the great tragedy in Sri Lanka is caused by the constant casualties at petrol stations.
