A failure of still unknown origin has left the credit card service without Visa y Mastercard to shops and restaurants in much of the country. The incident has generated a lot of confusion among businesses and hoteliers, as they cannot make payments.
This is apparently an incident generated at 1:10 p.m. in the emergency service. RedSyswhich has affected ATMs, data phones, payments in stores or even the Bizum service.
The banking entities, the first to receive complaints from users, have been the ones reporting the origin of the crash, pointing to RedSys, the payment system processor, as the epicenter of the crash.
The drop in service has taken place at a critical time for consumption, in the run-up to the so-called Black Friday, which begins the highest consumption peak of the year. Furthermore, the incident took place on Saturday, very close to midday with many people finishing purchases, or having something to eat in bars and restaurants.
The payment processor RedSys has communicated, through a message in its X account, that “the last minute payment service degradations, exclusively linked to internal communication lines” are now “solved.”
Redsys, as a platform or payment gateway, acts as intermediary between the bank and the buyer to ensure the security of transactions.
Ms de half a hundred of Spanish financial entities are attached to the Redsys payment platform, a concentration on a single platform that means that these types of problems affect the entire payment system in Spain.
