Gegham Gevorgyan, the chairman of the RA State Commission for the Protection of Economic Competition, had a meeting yesterday with Artur Asoyan, the head of the coordination office of the inspection bodies of the RA Prime Minister’s Office, Georgi Avetisyan, the head of the RA CE food safety inspection body. Commission member Hayk Karapetyan and other responsible persons also participated in the meeting.

During the meeting, the directions of cooperation on issues affecting the competitive situation in a number of product markets were discussed.

The participants of the meeting discussed, among other issues, the situation in the chicken egg market. Issues related to the control of the quality and quantity characteristics of gasoline and diesel fuel, as well as food safety, in particular, the proper labeling of sour cream and sour cream products and the work aimed at ensuring the quality characteristics corresponding to the labeling, were also discussed.

Gegham Gevorgyan, the president of the RA State Technical University of Ukraine, emphasized the close cooperation between the commission and the inspection bodies in the direction of identifying and preventing manifestations that have a negative impact on the competitive environment in various commodity markets, because sometimes the control over some processes taking place in various commodity markets is within the powers of other state departments, but the presence of possible problems in those processes can have an indirect negative impact on the competitive environment of the relevant product market.

Gegham Gevorgyan emphasized that the developments taking place in the egg market are in the center of attention of the commission. Daily monitoring has been and continues to be carried out in major commercial chains. Official inquiries have already been sent to large egg producers and commercial chains. In addition, the commission will hold a meeting with representatives of commercial networks, and as a result of summarizing and analyzing the received information, decisions on further steps will be made.

As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to continue joint work in the direction of regulating problematic manifestations in various product markets, involving other partner state bodies as well, if necessary.
