Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora Fuad Muradov met with the Azerbaijani community in this country as part of his visit to Italy.

As Day.Az was informed by the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, at the event, which began with the performance of the national anthem of Azerbaijan, the blessed memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of our country was honored with a minute of silence.

At the meeting, they spoke in detail about the diaspora policy of our country, large-scale projects implemented through the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, including coordination councils, houses of Azerbaijan, Azerbaijani Sunday schools, summer camps for diaspora youth, the “Brain Attraction Program”, specialized forums, organized by committees in foreign countries, etc.

Recalling the recommendations of President Ilham Aliyev at the V Victory Congress of World Azerbaijanis to our compatriots living abroad, the chairman of the committee noted that World Azerbaijanis, including the community in Italy, remain committed to the ideology of Azerbaijanism and are actively involved in promoting our realities.
The meeting with the Azerbaijani community in Italy was attended by employees of the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Italy and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Holy See (Vatican) Ilgar Mukhtarov.

After the KSA coordinator for Rome Farid Abbasov and the KSA Italian coordinator for Venice Turkyan Hasanova made reports, elections were held for the coordinators of the KSA Italy and the chairman of the Azerbaijan-Italian Youth Association. Ainur Ashurova (Rome), Fidan Abdullazade (Milan), Elvin Babayev (Milan), Aysel Shabieva (Malta) were elected coordinators of the KSA, and Kerim Ismailov was elected chairman of the association (Rome). Our compatriots expressed gratitude for the trust shown.

After a mutual exchange of views and detailed answers to questions from our fellow countrymen, the vice-president of the Italian-Azerbaijani Association in Milan, the founder and director of “Eurasiaticanews” Carlo Marino, the vice-president of the Naples-Baku Association Elnur Jamalkhanov and community member Lala Zeynalova were awarded the medal “For merits in diaspora activities”, and to active members of the Azerbaijani community – gratitude from the committee.

It should be noted that currently there are 29 Azerbaijani houses operating in 15 countries and 15 coordination councils covering 36 countries.
