Kozhikode- Kozhikode has arrested the main accused in the case of gang-raping a mentally challenged woman on a stopped bus. Indiash Kumar, a native of Kunnamangalam Pantheerpadam, was arrested. The accused, who was hiding in an ashram in Varanasi, was caught in Salem on his way home. Two accused were already arrested in this case.

The incident related to the case is on July 4, 2021. The mentally challenged young woman got out of her house and was brutally tortured by the young men on a bike. After this, the woman was taken to Kunnamangalam by bike at night and dropped off. Gopish and Mohammad Shamir, natives of Kunnamangalam, were arrested earlier in the investigation based on the CCTV footage.

Indiash Kumar went absconding. After hiding in Thiruvannamalai and Palani, he escaped after knowing the arrival of the police and stayed with monks in Varanasi. The suspect, who thought the police investigation had ended, was arrested in Jesala while returning home from there. In the 2003 Karantur double murder case, the accused has also served jail time. ACP K. Sudarshan and the Special Action Group arrested the accused.
