/ The Spanish newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” revealed that a new Argentine star has entered the European football arena and ignited a conflict between the two traditional rivals, Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Recent years have witnessed a trend between Real Madrid and Barcelona towards signing young talents from Latin America, due to the clear rise in player prices on the European continent.

According to what the Spanish newspaper reported, Franco Mastantuno, a 16-year-old Argentine club player for River Plate, is receiving clear interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The Catalan newspaper explained, “The young player renewed his contract with River Plate until December 2026, with a penalty clause of 45 million euros, but it will increase in the last 10 days of the Mercato.”

The newspaper’s sources close to Barcelona revealed a trick that the player may resort to, related to his possession of an Italian passport that allows him to sign with a European club before reaching the age of majority, which is difficult for non-European stars.

The Spanish duo will face great difficulty if either of them wants to break the penalty clause, as River Plate does not intend to reduce the previously mentioned amount at all, according to the Catalan newspaper.

Mastantuno is good at playing as an advanced midfielder and playmaker, in addition to his ability to occupy the right wing position.

Since his promotion to the first team last January, the player has participated in 10 matches, during which he scored one goal.
