France and particularly the western facade of the country, where 23 departments have been placed on heat wave yellow vigilance, is beginning to suffer from a heat wave which could last ten days, with peaks at 39 degrees from Tuesday.

“It’s going to be hard this afternoon with almost 40°C”, was already grieving in the morning Régis who with his team works, “from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.”, trowel in hand and helmet screwed on his forehead , on the site of a new bus lane in the center of Bordeaux.

On Monday, temperatures already exceeded 30°C over a large part of the country and should be between 36°C and 38°C this Tuesday in the south-west and the Rhône valley, with possible peaks locally at 39 degrees.

“We expect at least a duration of eight to ten days”, with a peak probably “between Saturday and next Tuesday” (July 19), according to Météo-France.

In the south-west, already hit by records in mid-June (42.9° in Biarritz in the Basque Country or 41.9° in Cap-Ferret in the Arcachon basin) we have prepared.

On Wednesday, the first heat wave orange vigilance alerts could be launched for certain departments.

The heat wave will then spread towards the Centre, the East then the North, will drop slightly and then affect the entire metropolitan territory again, before a possible heat wave from Sunday.
