Against the background of the decline in sales of the gaming industry, and the crisis in the studios, the film industry is recruiting characters from classic games to produce films based on a well-known brand that has not yet been exploited. So after two successful Sonic movies, today we learned about the development of a new live action movie based on the classic arcade game with endless appetite Pac Man.

The project comes from Bandai Namco Entertainment – the company behind Pac Man, as well as games like Tekken and Galaga. Pac Man was first introduced in the US in 1980 – and was originally called Puck Man in Japan. The game takes place in dungeons where Pac-Man has to eat bullets while being chased by colorful ghosts as the dungeons get harder and harder.

The game spawned a huge amount of sequels, games like Miss Pac-Man, two TV series, including a series by the animacy company Hanna Barbara, and a Disney movie. The project will be based on an original idea by Chuck Williams (creator of Sonic) from Lightbeam Entertainment.
