Due to the lack of engagement rings for men, some of them wear traditional wedding rings instead, according to New York jeweler Eternate. But now companies of all sizes are beginning to understand the demand and present collections of engagement rings specifically for men, writes the BBC.
Eternate launched its own line in January. In addition, many major brands operating in global markets—including Tiffany and Brilliant Earth—have introduced designs aimed at men, often wider rings with more discreetly placed diamonds than their female counterparts. Like rings for women, they can run into the thousands of dollars.
“The demand for men’s engagement rings was almost zero seven years ago,” says Tobias Kormind, chief executive of London-based online diamond retailer 77 Diamonds. Today, he estimates they make up one in thirty custom orders from men looking for diamond or gemstone rings. “It’s still not a core product, but it definitely seems to be growing,” he adds.
