Chennai ∙ DMK MP A. Raja’s speech in Tamil Nadu is controversial. It was alleged that A. Raja gave a speech promoting separatism in the party meeting attended by Chief Minister MK Stalin in Namakkal last day.
‘Tamil does not get enough consideration from the central government. Even as an industrial state, non-receipt of GST compensation is affecting the development of the state. I have something to say to the Prime Minister. Do not force us to raise the argument of Tamil kingdom again.’- Raja said in his speech.
Our philosophic teacher Periyar had said that Tamil Nadu should leave India. We put aside that demand to save the idea of Akhand Bharat and democracy. I request Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah not to force us to raise that demand again. Tamils are neglected by central government in terms of funds and job opportunities. Due to this, there will be no economic growth or job opportunities in Tamil Nadu – says Raja in his speech.
BJP with opposition
The controversy started when BJP leader Shehzad Poonawale tweeted a video of Raja’s speech. Poonawale asked on Twitter that this is a narrow mindedness and apart from opposing the Centre, if you are doing this, you are also opposing the concept of India itself.
Although RSS and BJP Twitter handles are widely shared, A. Raja is not ready yet. Until 1960, the Dravida Kazhagam, the parent organization of the DMK, demanded an independent state called Tamil Eelam. Later this position was changed.
