(Last night (Wednesday) there was a rare meeting of two of the oldest rebbes in the USA, when the Mesqueira Rebbe visited the home of the McCalub Rebbe in the Williamsburg neighborhood.

The two rebbes are among the only survivors of the Holocaust living with us today: Rebbe Makalov was born in 1778 in the city of Mihalfave, and Rebbe Masqueira was born in the year 1989 in the city of Yas.

By a wonderful divine intervention, they were both saved from the Nazis.

The Rebbe of Squirra arrived in the Williamsburg neighborhood after the wedding at his son Rabbi Yaakov Yosef’s, to comfort the family of his father-in-law Rabbi Lipa Teitelbaum – whose rabbinic spouse perished in the fire.

Another turned to visit the home of the Rebbe of Kallov, who returned last week from the hospital after being saved from a dangerous situation, after suffering from a severe infection.

During the visit, memories of the past and the connections between the tzaddiki of Beit Kaloub and Squirea during the Holocaust and after were brought up.

Later in the conversation, the Rebbe of Squirra spoke in praise of the actions of the Rebbe of Kalov and his emissaries to bring together people far away all over the world, within the framework of the ‘Or Olam’ organization, and emphasized “that it is certainly appropriate to arouse rights to bring about his complete healing”.
