Like every year, Bangladeshi expatriates are sending more and more remittances from the beginning of Ramadan. In the first 22 days of this month of March, money equivalent to 141 million 44 million US dollars came into the country through legal or banking channels. In local currency, the amount is 15 thousand 208 crores (1100 rupees per dollar).

This information was revealed in the updated statistics published by the central bank on Monday (March 24).

Reviewing the data of the Central Bank, it was found that in the first 22 days of this March, remittances reached 1414.44 million US dollars (1414.45 million). Among them, 18 million 25 million dollars came through state-owned banks, 2 million 15 million US dollars through a specialized bank, 120 million 48 million dollars came through private banks and 5.7 million 10 thousand US dollars came through foreign banks.

In January this year, remittances came to the country of 2100 million US dollars. And in February comes 216 million 60 million US dollars.

In the last financial year 2022-23, the total remittance received was two thousand 161 crore seven lakh US dollars. In the previous fiscal year 2021-2022, total remittances came to 2031.7 million US dollars. In the financial year 2020-21, the remittance came to 2 thousand 477 crore 77 million US dollars, which is the highest amount of remittance.
