At the end of covert surveillance that included placing cameras and collecting evidence, last week the activities of the Green Police of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Northern District of the Ministry of Environmental Protection became visible. In an open area in the Gush Halab area (Jash) in the north, construction waste throwers were caught and investigated.

The cameras were placed in the area after a routine patrol by the green police inspectors of the Ministry of Environmental Protection located an open area containing a pollutant hazard that includes piles of construction waste. At the end of the tour, it was decided to document what was happening there, to catch the polluters and bring them to justice.

In reviewing the photographic materials collected, two trucks arriving at the scene and dumping construction waste in the area were identified. At this point, the investigation became open – one of the truck drivers was detained for investigation, and his vehicle was seized. Another truck driver and the owner of the area were also summoned for questioning. According to the findings that will emerge from the investigation, the Ministry of Environmental Protection will decide on the continuation of the procedures against the polluters.

The Green Police of the Ministry of Environmental Protection will continue to work in cooperation with all the relevant parties to eradicate the phenomenon of illegal dumping of waste in open areas. Pirated waste is harmful to public health, animals and the environment and may lead to soil and water contamination and be a source of fires.

Yossi Bar, Director of the Green Police of the Ministry of Environmental Protection: “We are at the height of summer, and waste hazards are not only harmful to public health, animals and the environment, but may be a source of fires. The Green Police of the Ministry of Environmental Protection will continue to fight the phenomenon of littering with all the enforcement means at its disposal.”
