A petition has been launched on the Change.org website with the demand to restore the gold medal of the Armenian wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan, who lost in the Greco-Roman style wrestling finals of the 31st Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro on August 16 with the Serbian wrestler Davor Štefanek.
The petition posted on the website 16 hours ago already has more than 7,000 signatures. The author of the initiative called on the International Wrestling Federation to restore justice.
“Any injustice recorded in sports casts a shadow over the Olympic Games. The organizers of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics must join this petition and take action to restore justice. In the Greco-Roman style wrestling final of the 31st Olympic Games held in Rio de Janeiro, Armenian wrestler Mihran Harutyunyan was deprived of the gold medal due to biased refereeing during his fight with Serbian wrestler Davor Štefanek. It’s a disgrace to Greco-Roman wrestling. The whole world became a witness to the fact that, in fact, who is the champion,” the petition states.
