The members of Ara!Gorputz have presented the album ‘Familian asko gara’, seeing that stories with racialized children as protagonists or that express non-nuclear family models are not common in Basque. It is a work created with the support of the Provincial Council of Gipuzkoa and now the second edition has been released in self-publishing.

In the story, the adventures of a child who enjoys a rich care network are told in a pleasant atmosphere, to offer a stop to address racism and family models.

As the association stated, “in order to reach as many children as possible, we distributed 50 copies in the municipal libraries and schools of Bidasoaldea. The story was very well received, which gave us the strength to make a second publication, in this case our house. We wanted to continue spreading the story’s message and we are working on it.”

The desire to respond to a need fertilized the idea of making the story global and now the intention is to follow the same path. The story ‘We are many in the family’ is for sale in the following places: Labore Txingudi store (Irun); Maddi’s creativity-Hairdresser/boutique- (Irun); Ontza bookstore (Donosti); Txara store (Lower Arroa, Zestoa) and Garoa book store (Zarautz). In addition to that, the association online version on the website can also be found

The released story is, of course, not the first of the Ara!Gorputz project. It was founded in 2018 and since then they have put the body at the center and have had the “needs to sustain life” as a starting point to create “desire and knowledge in a collective way”. Among others, by observing processes such as menstruation to try to find women’s well-being.
