Al-Marsad Newspaper: A new study revealed that excessive drinking of water may cause the body to be poisoned, or to disturb brain functions.

The danger of drinking too much water

The study stated that this happens when there is a lot of water in the cells, including brain cells, which leads to their enlargement, and when the cells in the brain swell, they cause pressure that leads to other symptoms such as confusion, drowsiness and headache. According to “Al Arabiya.net”

She added, if this pressure increases, it may cause conditions such as high blood pressure, and slow heart, that is, a decrease in the heart rate, and also may cause a lack of sodium, which is a crucial element that helps maintain fluid balance inside and outside cells, and when its levels decrease due to the presence of a large amount of Water in the body, fluids enter inside the cells and then the latter swell, which exposes the person to the risk of epileptic seizures, coma, or even death.

A sign of sufficiency

If your urine is often clear, this is a sure sign that you are drinking a lot of water in a short period of time. Also, the rate you use the bathroom, which is another sign. If you use the toilet more than usual, i.e. more than 6 to 8 times a day, and a maximum of 10 times, this means that there is an imbalance.

Nausea and vomiting

When you have a lot of water in your body, then the kidneys cannot remove the excess fluid, and it begins to pool, leading to nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.

Safe quantity

According to studies, the quantity challenge depends on how much each body needs separately, as women from the age of 19 to 30 years should drink about 2.7 liters of water per day, while men of the same age need about 3.7 liters.

Also, thirst levels are not a standard for everyone, especially athletes, the elderly, and pregnant women.
