Employees of the drug control department of the regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs received operational information about the upcoming sale of a prohibited substance in Smolensk “from hand to hand.” As a result, the information was confirmed, a synthetic narcotic drug – a mixture – was withdrawn from the illegal circulation.
A criminal case was initiated on the illegal sale of narcotic drugs under Part 3 of Art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
It was established that a 34-year-old unemployed resident of Smolensk was involved in the sale. He was detained by police officers near the house. In the presence of the attesting witnesses, two sachets were found in the pocket of his trousers: one with blue powder, the other with pink powder. The forensic center established that the substances are narcotic drugs MDMA and N-methylephedrone. The suspect acquired them through a bookmark for himself and for sale.
The investigation is ongoing. The defendant is under recognizance not to leave. He faces imprisonment for up to 15 years.
