a symbolic shift in the sharing of tasks?

by time news

“Delegation of tasks”, “sharing of responsibilities”, “shared medical decision-making”…: these expressions have punctuated the debates on health for several weeks. Those expected in the National Assembly came to an end with the activation of Article 49.3 of the Constitution. But the discussions which will start within the framework of the negotiations of the medical convention between Health insurance on the one hand, the unions of city doctors on the other, can hardly evade the question: how to better make work the professionals of health together for “free up medical time”, according to another agreed language element?

The subject, technical, took on a political dimension. The Head of State made it his own, Wednesday October 26 on France 2, by evoking the fight against medical deserts: “We are going to give more responsibilities to our nurses, our physiotherapists, our pharmacists, all our paramedics, our psychologists and others, so that many of the tasks that are done by our doctors can go to them. », he defended. Asked about the shortage of ophthalmologists, Emmanuel Macron added: “We must better organize working time between doctors, in particular specialists, and paramedics”.

The argument has been ringing for a while on avenue de Ségur. On several occasions since the start of the school year, the Minister of Health and Prevention, François Braun, has issued a warning: “If the professionals do not agree among themselves, the government will take its responsibilities. » It did so by including, in the social security financing bill for 2023, a few amendments to this effect. Thus, experimentation allowing nurses in certain territories, for a limited period, to issue death certificates. Or the opening, in medical deserts, of “permanent care” to nurses, midwives and physiotherapists. “In the evening, on weekends, these professionals will be able to provide a first-line response in the logic of empowerment of the local actors that we defend”, we explain to the firm Braun.

“A lock just jumped”

In a “multi-professional health center”, this mode of collective exercise often cited as an example, doctors will be able to delegate to nurses the follow-up of chronic patients, prescription renewals…: François Braun praised him in an interview given at ReleaseOctober 13. “An important lock has just jumped”, he added.
